“No pain no gain.
Or so the saying goes; however, a panel of
experts working with Dr. Joanne Lupton,
professor of nutrition at University
recommended that person’s caloric needs must
take into account at least one hour a day doing
moderately intense physical activities.
Depending on your health and stamina, the
activities should include walking, swimming or
cycling.
Is it half hour of exercise enough?
Again, it all depends on your physical
capabilities, and age. In 1996, the United Sates
surgeon general promoted at least half hour of
physical activities on most days. Of late, it is
recommended—if you are up to it mentally and
physically—to stretch it to one hour. Many
believe that this goal is impractical seeing
that 60% of the population is now totally
sedentary. What’s important is for you to
identify your threshold of activity. As the
other saying goes: Nothing ventured, nothing
gained. In this case, however, the end result
might be a healthier, longer life.
Knowledge is good medicine. Pass it on!TM
